Following Your Bliss and Being Able to Afford Sushi

In The Duncan Anderson Design Department Gallery at California State University, Long Beach
6241 East University Drive, Long Beach, CA 90815
Park in the Foundation Lot across from the Design Department main entrance – $5

My goal is to show students how make corporations pay for their art. Many students leave school with an abundance of talent but very little direction on how to make it viable for them. I plan to show students how to maintain their artistic soul without  having to work a job unrelated to their interests by showing them a chronological timeline of my own personal experiences and designs. Essentially I will be discussing how to make money while maintaining artistic endeavor.

Mike Russek received his MFA in 2001 from The Maryland Institute College of Art.  Shortly after moving to California he purchased a laser cutter and began experimenting on various techniques and processes that lead him to form his company, 1028 Designs. 1028 Designs specializes in unique one-off items such as projection mapped dj booths, stages, displays, tradeshow booths, custom jewelry, animation, fine art etc.
